Interested in joining our lab?

We are always looking to recruit dedicated people to our team! Please review this website and recent publications to familiarize yourself with our work before contacting me. Most projects require substantial quantitative skills, so you must have taken calculus II prior to joining the lab. Previous programming experience is also strongly encouraged.

  • For potential graduate students, when you email me to express interest, include a brief description of your research interests, programming skills, prior experience in research, and educational background. I suggest contacting me early fall of your application year, so we can set up a zoom call and chat before graduate applications are due. I also strongly recommend potential PhD candidates to explore independent funding opportunities, such as fellowships through NSF, NASA, and NOAA.
  • For potential postdocs, if you have not seen a postdoc job ad from me than I suggest you contact me about a year before your expected defense. Include a CV, a brief description of your research experience and interest, and a note about your timeline for defending. I encourage applications to independently funded postdocs, such as the NSF OCE postdoctoral research fellowship, and am happy to provide support in the preparation of these proposals.
  • For potential undergraduate students, there are lots of paid opportunities to do research but they require planning. I sometimes have paid positions available through my ongoing grants, but you can also seek independent funding through school-wide and national-level fellowship opportunities. I strongly encourage applying to those, as the application process is typically a helpful exercise in itself. When contacting me, please include a brief description of your educational background and prior research experience (if any) and a copy of your transcripts (unofficial ok).
